Default D17 advantages, if any?

OK, so the quick question is: what advantages does the D-series engine, specifically the D17A2 in my EM2 EX coupe have over other Honda options?

I'm already aware of the obvious stuff. Yes, I know the K-series swap will at least double my hp while stock. And there's not really much power to be gained from the D17 - very aware of that too. But I'm ok with that. I don't desire any FI solutions since I'm an all motor kind of guy, and honestly I'm happy with the 127 hp Honda gave me from the factory (I have a BMW if need to go faster ).

So that being said, are there any advantages to keeping my D17A2? Examples: is the D-block more robust than xyz engine? Easier to work on? Cheaper parts? Flatter torque curve (compared to a K20) or more "usable" passing power?
Specific example: I know the K-series went to timing chain, so from a service standpoint I believe you at least wouldn't have to do the infernal timing belt service every 90k. Anything else notable?

Slightly off-topic, but welcome for discussion: I know we can't really swap in the B-engines, but for the sake of comparison what do you guys think of the D17 in comparison to that oh so loved engine? Just want to put things in perspective.

Oh, and the car is one of my DD right now, but plans for the future are yet undecided. What I am looking for (besides hp, maybe) is an indestructible, easy-to-work-on engine with a relatively flat torque curve for everyday passing power. And if tracking is in the future, I'd like for whatever I stuff under the hood to not have overheating issues or misc track-only problems you get when you run cars that hard.

I think I've already found a solution to the biggest weakness of the factory D17, that being no LSD, so if the D17 is really good enough, then it could save me 7g+ as I plan the car's mods.

Motors are junk with limited aftermarket support(D17). The chassis/suspension is also pretty terrible compared to 88-00 civic/integra as well as 06-11 civic. Your only option that makes sense in any way is going K, or getting a different car.
