Default help with next build

Im looking to build my EK civic for at least 200whp. I has a d16y8 now and im not sure wheather to build the d16 (vitara pistons, eagle rods, etc) then boost or swap in a k24/k20 and stay NA.

Im my area a full k24 or k20 engine with 6 spd trans usually sell for under $1500.

What would you guys recommend? I got $1k to spend now. thanks

For 200, you don't need any building. Save up another thousand, and toss a GT28RS or a TD04H-15G on it, some DSM 440's, and a competent tune, and you'll easily make 200 WHP, reliably and safely. If you want more than that, don't waste your time with Vitara. Get some proper forged internals, add a better cam, and make high 200's. Your cylinder walls will become your weak point, so you'll want to make sure you're running a damn good tune.

Past 200, I would skip building a D. Swap in a cheap LS motor, boost it for 250-300, or rebuild it with forged internals before swapping it in (the route I'm taking right now - check my build thread), and make 350-400 safely and comfortably. 300 can easily be done with a GT28RS, so if you're interested in working in steps, boosting the D with that turbo, and you can keep using it after a B swap.

if you want 200hp and you find a k20a2 complete swap for $1,500. that's great but remember the other 1.5k-2k more for the k-pro, harness and mounts.

Now with 1.5k-2k you can made your own turbo kit for your y8, buy some quality parts used and the others new but separately( not kits).Even you can use some eBay parts such cast log manifold, intercooler pipes and Cx racing intercoolers. If you are sure you only want 200whp the y8 take it bone stock and this is $600-800 less from piston/rod combo.

thanks for the replies guys. I'll probably build the y8 with forged internals and boost it with a good tune.

The k24 would be nice but I didnt count the cost for the mounts, harness, etc. being so expensive.
