Default *92 civic hatch si* Is a P30 the right ECU for the D16Z6 engine?

So I've posted before I was having surging issues and ground check engine light on. After I cleaned all valves and troubleshooted. I bought a new ecu. The old one was p06 and had no chip. I put a 37820-p30-n51 in it. The engine light went off and surging stopped but it ran like ****. I have a obd1 set up which is right but what now? Get it flashed? Or is it the wrong ecu? Please help me out.

I looked it up p06 is for a DX. I know it uses a p28. But It says that p30 is for del sol. Was just wondering if it'll work with d16z6?

P30 is meant to b16 not z6, P28 is the right ECU.

You want to find a virgin P28 or chip and VTEC convert the P06. You can chip the P30 and put a z6 map but this is like kill the golden goose.

The P06 is for the DX. The P30 is for the Del Sol VTEC, which is is powered by a B16A. You want a P28 for your D16Z6.

OK I found a p28 but has no chip, its a virgin. Can I have someone solder the chip from the p30 to it? And what is the cel wire for? Its not plugged in

You don't WANT a chip in the P28. For a stock D16Z6, you want to run a stock P28 ECU.

Thank you, so what about the cel wire? What is it and should I plug it in when I install the new ecu or leave it unplugged?

CHK CEL it says on the wires coming through the fire wall by the ECU on the harness. Its just two wires with a male/female ends that can be plugged in together. There unplugged. I have a p06 ecu in it now not sure if thats why there unplugged. p06 was in the car when I bought it. Hopefully the p28 will fix the problems I'm having with it.

That is a jumper wire - it's just supposed to hang there, not plugged into anything.

Oh ok, I'm gonna plug the p28 in later today. I'll let you know if that fixes my surging/bogging/dying problems. Thanks for all your posts

K I installed the p28 in the car, but the vtec isn't working. The harness is all plugged in and its running like a dream. No surging or stalling or bogging. Check engine light is even off, but no vtec. Where do I start?

If the CEL isn't on, and you can rev to redline, VTEC is working. It isn't supposed to "kick", it's supposed to be a smooth transition.

Oh ok I was told it boosts at 4800 RPM but it does feel like it picks up speed. Nice to know though. I'm amazed how many people act like they know everything about hondas in my area and I've gotten more useful info from you then any of them.

Thank You so much man!!!!!!
