Default Using Body filler on car in Cold weather

I did my research. Got a few answers that's 3 or so years old. I am sure technology have improved alot since then haha. Here it goes.

I am anxious to start working on my car and filling out some spots with body filler, I have a garage with no heat inside of it, however, I still want to start fill out about 2 reasonable size spots on the car. Any recommendations (type of filler/hardener etc) or suggestions?

A few of the old topics I discovered recommend having a heater close to the area, that way it wont be has cold. The weather is between 30-40 degrees.
Thanks Guys

^ x2. The coldest I have done body work with filler is around 60 degrees and it took the filler quite a while to set up properly to sand it. Didn't hurt it any, just slowed down the cure time. I wouldn't go any colder than that though.

Filler, just like fibreglass resin is a chemical reaction that has nothing to do with temperature. You can do it in the snow or in 100 degrees it will only effect the cure time a few minutes.

I would also recommend using All Metal filler. it's a metal based filler, easy to sand like plastic based filler

On second thought, I will do a test spot and I will have a heater next to the area while I'm working then. Haha, thanks fellas.

No, absolutely not. The minimum temperature I have ever seen for body fillers is 50 degrees. I believe that was a 3m filler. And I seem to remember Evercoat fillers being around 60 degrees minimum for a proper cure. It will not cure properly if the temperature is colder than that. Think about it, Urethane primers and paints cure chemically as well, and they are formulated to be used only within a certain temperature range. So yes, temperature definitely has a role.

If you can get the heat of your work area to 55-60 degrees then I say go for it, but otherwise wait for it to warm up. You're going to have a hell of a mess if you try and spread filler on 35 degree panel. You could run into adhesion problems, the filler may not cure properly, and blah blah blah. Just don't do it. It's not worth the headache to rush it when you can just wait and do it properly.

Also not recommended. All Metal sands like concrete compared to a good "plastic" filler. Evercoat Rage Gold is a good filler to use that cuts pretty easily and still gives you some build properties. At the shop we have switched to Rage Ultra... been using it for a few months and it sands like butter, but it is slightly trickier to work with.

It might not be beautiful 6 months from now. No joke, I want to see how it holds up after paint. I'm not trying to sound like an ***... just genuinely curious as to how it'll hold.

Hey man, I totally understand haha. No worries, I had a heater blowing on the panel temp was about 55/70 degrees, before and after I applied the filler, so I'm guessing it should be fine.
