D16Y8 Idle Problem
ok i just swaped in a y8 into my 98 ek dx im using the stock y7 ecu for now but the car has a problem it idles fine but as soon as u start giving it gas it surges till like 3000 then it runs fine i can run through all the gears but i feel like a freaking idiot ppl think im trying to race everywhere i go idk wtf is happening i replaced the map tps and cleaned the iacv checked geounds i got 4 guage ground one from the battery to car frame another from the frame to tranny and the stock one from the valve cover to the rad support
Problem #1: You're using the Y7 ECU. The Y7 has 170cc injectors, whereas the Y8 uses 240cc injectors. You aren't flowing the correct amount of fuel. Get the proper ECU before you start expecting the car to run right, and stop driving it until you do - you risk damaging the engine with improper fueling.
Does it happen all the time or only under certain conditions (engine cold, engine warm, etc)
No CEL on I take it?
I have seen one case where someone changed their throttle body and only finger tightened the nuts (they forgot to tighten them properly) , so when the throttle cable tightened to open the plate, it broke the gasket seal slightly causing the RPM to surge. I can't imagine this is your problem but it's certainly worth checking just in case.
