Considering a civic, need advice
Thinking of getting a 95 civic, 5 speed, coupe. I took it for a test drive today and I was generally pleased with it except for the fact there was no power steering. It has a b18 engine and trans from an integra. What would I need to get power steering back installed? and how much would it be at the end of the day? and it rattles a little bit on a cold start idling but after that runs fine.
he also said it may need a timing belt, how hard/pricey would that be? other than that I can't seem to find much wrong with it at all and its a good deal.

if he properly looped the power steering not to much(sub 100$). idle problems are easy to fix unless it's misfiring at idle then you might be out a bit more. timing belt/water pump is super easy to replace as for cost: doing it the right way(OEM Honda parts) 220$ range.
think i should go for it? i know a guy by me that fixes cars and he always does mine for cheap

offer him 2K cash max !, don't pay over 2K for that, seems clean/legit tho so I say go for it. I'm not a fan of civic's but if I needed a new beater I would grab it.
yeah im prob gonna lower the price a little. its got a short throw as well and besides everything else runs pretty good. i just need to get someone to look at it and make sure everything is good
$2500 is a little steep for the condition of that one IMO.
like the others have said. Offer 2k cash and if he does not take it, no worries there will always be another one.
As far as the powersteering stuff you could probably get everything handled for $70 if you do the work yourself.

I think price is based on where you live. I hate to say it but that civic where I live (if it wasn't missing side skirts etc) would be like $3K and for some reason people pay it here??? I'd say go for it, its already a runner and has a better motor that stock. You can see the timing belt cause the cover wasn't reinstalled so just check that out visually. I think for $2K it'd be a good buy for a daily driver.
Also Make sure it still has the cat, with that header and the aftermarket exhaust it could have been removed too.

The power steering isn't that hard to fix, but I'd be more than a little concerned with the huge holes cut in the shock towers. Not that hard to fix with a mig welder, but they were cut so the car could be lowered to a point where it was dragging on the ground.
I know im gonna try to get a timing cover and check to make sure everything else in the cars okay (im pretty sure it is)
def gonna try to lower it to 2k.
thanks for the replies guys.
