Why removing the oil control jet ?

Default Why removing the oil control jet ?

Hi there , have a d15b3 we have swapping a d16y8 head on it..

But everyone says that the oil control jet must be removed by vtec heads because it does not need it why must it be removed can u tell ?

with the oil control jet installed, it does not allow enough oil flow to the head for vtec to work. so you need to remove the jet if you are installing a vtec head.

Had to do it when I did the mini - me swap on my d15b7.
Same goes for the vtec conversion on an F series.

because there's one in the vtec head.

my mechanic says that's not required to remove it what happens when we not removing the jet ?

the rockers won't engage for vtec. not enough oil.

Did you really need to ask the same question twice? Motoxxxman told you why in the very first response.

Just to clarify, The oil control orifice has to be removed from the block in order to allow the appropriate oil pressure to enter the head from the engine block. Otherwise there will not be enough pressure to engage the VTEC rocker assemblies. that is what the control orifice does. it lowers the oil pressure to the head as it is not required on a Non VTEC setup.

Other than that, you would have to run an external oil pressure line from the block to the head.
