Upshift & revs drop to idle, slow acceleration.
I changed my clutch and the rest of the components when I bought this car about a month or two ago. My clutch grabs great and I haven't had any issues other than sometimes if I shift into my first 3 gears it feels like I'm not grabbing the gear and my revs drop to idle and slowly climb like I've put it in 5th.
If this happens in first I generally drop the clutch to the biting point, give gas and it will stall. It rarely happens but when it does if I put it in neutral and back into gear it kicks back up to 2.5k/3k where I usually would have been if it grabbed in the first place.
What could this be? I also have a bit of play left to right with the gear selector could this be related or normal?
Thanks.

Sounds like you are putting it in the wrong gear. Maybe play in the shift linkage or bitch pin. Or possibly internal transmission issues. Start with the easiest things to check.
Honestly, it feels like I'm putting it in the wrong gear but I definitely know I'm not putting it in fifth when I'm shifting to third. I don't have the driver side torque mount attached so maybe the engine has enough play to move it. Maybe that coupled with the shift linkage squiggling it can move itself to fifth.
I just wanted to rule out internal transmission issues. Thanks.
