valve cover breather
hey guys ive got a b16 with 300 whp, ive been looking at all the breather kits just wondering if anyone is running a valve cover breather kit, if so which one, what maintenance to they require, and which one do you recommend? i dont want the big box ones with three filters, do i need one with a drain back plug because i hear up people having problems with the cans squirting oil every where in the engine aby
there's a thread on it already. good read.
IMHO for 300whp, if you really want one - KISS
you could just easily drill & use ntp fittings on the backside and plumb lines to a ebay catch can. Mount the catch can higher the block. Have a return line of the catch can feed back into the top 90 fitting onto of your stock black canister box.

well that depends on a lot of things :p
health of the motor
boost pressure being run/turbo size
max engine rpm
compression ratio (if the bottom end isn't stock)
it might not be absolutely mandatory at that power level but a good crankcase ventilation setup can never hurt

actually, yeah it does have something to do with it. crankcase pressure can cause ring flutter, which definitely can damage ringlands. especially on used pistons where the ring grooves are worn. the more worn the grooves are, the more flutter crank pressure will cause, and the more likely a ringland will crack
