Default Keyless Entry Issue

So I am having an issue with the keyless entry with both of my crv's. One is a 1999 and the other is a 2000. The 99 came with a remote but the 00 did not. I purchased a new remote for the 00 crv and programmed it to the vehicle. The issue that I am having is that both remotes work with both crvs. It doesnt matter what remote I use, it unlocks, locks and opens rear glass on both of them at the same time. I have reprogrammed the remotes to each crv individually but they seem to be sharing the same frequency. In all honesty it really is almost funny but it is annoying that I do not use the remotes when I am at home. Does anyone have any ideas?

yeah thats hilarious. did you attempgt to program one without both cars in close proximity? i know that shouldnt make a difference even if you were in a parking lot full of cr-v's, but thats the only thing i can think to try.

I have indeed tried programming them separately away from each other. The girlfriend always uses the remote at home, so when she drives away, she listens for the other crv to honk as she hits the remote. It also locks her car too. Its more of an annoyance for her than me. I just chuckle.

I just bought a 05 CR-V EX that came with one regular key. Should I be able to buy a new key with keyless entry buttons and program it? Do all EX CR-Vs have keyless entry?

Most likely just dumb luck that both your V's have the same transmitter code for them.

That's pretty funny.

Now just get a remote start in both cars and have both start with the same key. heheee
