Icon6 99 CR-V Clutch R&R Question

Can anyone tell me if it is necessary to drop the sub-frame to do a clutch job on a 99 CR-V? I normally have access to Mitchel on Demand, but my computer is down so I am flying blind. Also, if anyone has the estimated R&R time for clutch with flywheel replacement, and or any tricks, tips, TSB's, or info that I should know for this make and model that would be great too! Thank-you

is it 4wd or 2wd? 4wd will take more time. you need to drop the propeller shaft (be careful not to let the middle joint be stressed)

there's a bracket on the back that i believe needs to be removed it's black and has three bolts to connect the rear rotating assembly from the transmission to the engine. its a mount.

You'll need to remove the transmission side engine mount and you'll need to remove the transmission from the engine.

don't forget the drive shafts on both sides as well as the one that comes out of the tranny on the drivers side needs to come out. then drop the tranny out (dont forget **** connected to the top of the tranny needs to come off.

then you can get to the clutch/flywheel from there.

it's imperative that you know the torque specs and pattern for the flywheel and clutch when putting the new ones on.

NAPA can resurface the flywheel for ~$50. I'm just using a $120 ebay exedy clutch.

I'm obviously skipping some steps and really screwing up the terminology but i havent had my coffee yet this morning. a transmission jack would be great as well.

you dont have to drop the subframe on any <2001 honda. Dont know about newer ones. I generally prefer to take the whole motor/tranny out as a unit and change the clutch on the floor, but it can be done by just removing the tranny as well. R&R depends on experience. Can be anywhere from a few days, to a day, to a couple hours, to an hour or so. biggest tip is for the rear tranny mount. use a bunch of extensions with a wobbly and an impact to get it out from the drivers side top of the engine bay, by the clutch resivour.
