Icon2 2000 Civic ex will not stat after head swap, HELP!

I just put a new head in my 2000 civic Ex after it quit running. The original problem was a burnt valve check engine light started flashing so I pulled over found witch cylinder it was pulled the wire off and tried to get home. I got about 10 miles down the road when the car died when slowing down to go through a toll booth. Towed it home checked compression and found that I had a burnt valve on cylinder 2. Ordered a replacement head they sent me a p2j-6 my old one is a p2j-3. (Not sure if this is the right head but the guy says it is) installed the head and it will not start. I have spark. All my timing marks are on when I set cylinder 1 to TDC. I am getting fuel and I have compression. The car is not throwing any codes but has not started so I don't know if it would. This car ran fine before the valve problem I don't understand what could have happened please help.

Check your valve clearances with a feller gauge. If it is off you need a valve adjustment.

Don't take my word I this because I am also just learning. Make sure the head is the proper head. I hav learned that if the heads don't match that it wil not start or run properly. I have a pmr head on my 02 cubic and was told that if I use the wrong head nothing will work so I would check there first. Next make sure u have hooked everything up properly. I recently starte to tear my car apart for. Cracked head and found that u can easily misplace something or improperly reinstall it. Try those first if that's not the case check ur valves as per the previous comment

Yes, you have the correct head. D17A, heads aren't that sensitive - from 88-00, as long as you have the right wiring, and install it correctly, any D head can be made to work on any D block.

You say you "have compression", but what are your compression numbers across the block? What color is your spark? Did you replace the IM assembly as well, or are you using the original one? If you're using the original, did you monkey with it at all?

I am pretty sure the timing isn't off the dizzy is pointed right at cylinder one wire when set to TDC on #1 cylinder. I adjusted all the valves after head was installed. My spark is a bright blue. I don't know what you are referring to as far as the IM assembly. I took all parts of old head and put them on the new one. The new one came with all valves rocker arms and cam fully assembled.

Also this car takes a d16y8 head right? The number that i was referring to in my original post was the cast number my original was a p2j-3 and the replacement is a p2j-6

That mark is just the casting mark - a few heads share the same casting mark, but it is the correct head.

Post your compression numbers. Never trust anything "preassembled".

Are all the spark plug wires in the right order on the distributor? You might be getting spark but will never get it to start if its not in the right sequence.
