New fuel pump issue?
I have a h22a4 swapped 92' EG. I BELIEVE the pump is original...
On that note the car didn't start the other day the pump wasn't priming. the connectors had alot of grease caked up I cleaned that. Seems to be better and is priming SOMETIMES now...
The car misfires and has signs it's running lean... New ignition. and everything
a new problem is when I get over 23-2500 RPM I hear a almost sucking sound coming from the pump and after the car gets warm I lose power and has a pretty bad hesitation.
Any idea what it would be?
I still need a chip for my p28 for the swap.. But don't think that would effect this mechanical issue?

Re: New fuel pump issue?
there;s a good solid 13.38 V going to the pump when the car is running. Sometimes it does not prime when you turn the key on? Will check K/O voltage check engine light goes on for 2 seconds then off, when you start the car is on continuously after a few seconds of running

Re: New fuel pump issue?
it can be the pump, but first start by removing the main relay and check it for cold or broken solders.
If you have the rear seat disassembled when the fail come again, have a friend crank it and check for voltage at the plug again.
If you get the correct voltage at the plug = PUMP
If you not get voltage = Main relay

Re: New fuel pump issue?
No voltage when I checked it. I bit the bullet and bought a 60$ relay. Works fine now.. Thankyou sir.
Still any idea WHY I get a sucking sound? (sounds like a turbo spooling) From the pump at about 2500-3500RPM?? What options do I have to upgrade or should I clean the syphon?
Also looked to be running lean? I need a chip still for my H22 But I don't think that would cause the pump to make a weird noise?

Re: New fuel pump issue?
when was the last time do you change the fuel filter?
A clogged filter can lead the pump to overwork and sound different.
Also a bad or falling off pump filter can create this situation.
do you have fuel press gauge? This can tell you a lot.
For the lean cond. a problem with the fuel press can cause lean conditions.
I.E. clogged fuel filter, bad pump filter.
After check your fuel pressure it's working correctly, get it TUNED!!

Re: New fuel pump issue?
Yes, Walbro 255lph it's drop in. Come in kits specially for civic with the mounting hardware and run from $75-90.
I personally use this in my 400whp civic with a rewire relay, in this form they are safe to run 500whp.
There are other brands some bolt in and others not but more pricy and if you not looking for a drag car there are not necessary.
If you going buy the walbro buy the one for civic's, the universal it's the same pump but different mounting hardware.
