Cliff Notes: Looking for intelligent input on tires that will provide top notch straitline dry grip on the street for a 16x7 wheel. Currently running 205 50 16 Dunlop direzza star specs. current front runner Toyo R1R because it comes in a 205 45.
I am shopping for tires for my 500whp civic. I've done plenty of research but I dont see many people seeking the same qualities from a tire as I am. Currently I have 205 50 16 Dunlop star specs and I can do an 80 mph roll in 4th and blow the tires off.
I do not want to change my 16x7 wheels. Most important is straight line dry traction. I do 90% of my driving on the street and only on nice sunny days. I drove about 2500-3000 miles between april and october this year. Tires are currently 5/32 which I consider acceptable given the power.
I know slicks are the only way I am going to hook up but I drive on the street and want more life from my tires than slicks would provide.
I am currently looking at Toyo R1Rs, or the new dunlop star spec Z2's both in a smaller 205 45 16 as I like to go lower with my car. I am open to other tires sizes.
Thanks Doug

I do not have any input for a 16" wheel, but there are options for a 15" wheel. You said you did not want to change wheel size and you would like to go with a tire that has a smaller sidewall. I am not too sure you are going to have many good options to hook 500hp.
1lowek2007 has some good info. He was able to get 700whp to hook on some Toyos.

M&H i hooked in 3ed with 535whp. u would be better off getting a 15 inch wheel and have more side wall to help u hook.. might lose the clean lowered look but with power u win some an lose some
