Is it worth it to boost a D16Y7 engine?
Now before I ask I would like to say I did search and read up on this and I read that it is highly recommended not to boost anything under the EX model civic so I'm not sure if it would be worth it to boost my civic since it is a DX...
I know that the engine can't handle a lot of pressure or it will blow out but I honestly want to just try and do a cheap turbo setup not necessarily for speed but just for the experience of doing it for future reference and such.
So my question is just, should I boost a D16Y7 or is it not worth it at all?

After reading your research on the subject and also you trying to do a cheap turbo, my advice is to leave it alone.
You have alot more reading to do before you understand what needs to take place.

With that said, I know a guy that did put together a budget turbo set up on his Y7 and it was a blast on the street for sure. Did a very conservative street tune and dialed in AFRs. But still it spun a bearing and he scrapped the motor and sold the turbo set up. Definitely not something I would do on my daily driver.

I highly suggest/command (lol) that you read the FAQs at the top of this forum page.. Most everything and stuff you don't is all compiled into the FAQ thread.
Read the whole thing at least twice then go from here and decide again what it is you want to do and hope to accomplish with your car

They are actually really good for a bunch of information on the EF civics too. I have used write ups there that aren't D-series specific also, such as OBD0 to OBD1 and DPFI to MPFI.
IMHO , i think it's worth it compared to your other options: Bswap, nos
you can learn a lot from tinkering with a boosted D.
I would say a solid budget turbo kit of $1500 should be more than enough to have a nice little sub 200whp turbo y7.... realistically i'd shoot for 160whp/160tq
have fun boosting
