Default Oil level problem!

I had my oil changed 200 miles ago by my mechanic who also did a tune up. Before he changed my oil, there was hardly anything left on the dip stick. I had to pour almost an entire quart to make the oil show up on the second dot. I asked him if anythign was leaking and he said everything looked good. Now, 200 miles later, I checked my oil and it is a little less than half way between the dots. Im obviously burning oil like crazy. I shift at 3k rpm all the time and hit vtec maybe 2-3 times a day. I dont understand what the problem is. My car has 90k on it. I just recently put Kenji's ecu in but I dont think that would have anything to do with it. I only have header and an intake. Can anyone please help me?

Might want to do a search, could be several things. try getting a leak down or compression test and see if anything pops up.

I burn about a litre between oil changes (every 4000-5000 km's)

How is this statement suppose to help the person? :shakes head:

Brownman - Did you have any problems before Kenji's P28 ECU? If not, just remember that Kenji's P28 ECU runs a lot richer than stock ECU. (There was a post about running rich triggering burnt oil in the archives.)

If I were you, I would not hit VTEC for a week and see if there are any symptoms of burning oil... and, if you don't see any loss, hit the VTEC as usual and see how your oil level is. Then, check for possible leak in your seals, compression check, oil pan gasket, head gasket, swap out the oil filter, check drain bolt, etc.

On a side note, if you already have V-AFC, tune P28 ECU and see if that'll cure the problem. G'luck.

i thought the head gasket only affected coolant? if you have a blown head gasket would this cause oil consumption as well? would you notice it coming out of the exhaust?

anyone have input on this

5w30 Synth burns quickly, especially Mobile 1. However, from the posts I have read on this boards and others, the R does burn oil under normal 9000 k shifts.
