Default help with ignition timing!!!

jdm 1997 spec R motor

so if i look straight down from the front of my car with the timing gun,


ON THE PULLY!

1 sinlge mark....< mechanical light rite? dont worry about it?



1 three mark...<<<<<THESE are the one im focusing on?
2 middle
3 last.


which way is advance? 1 < is where the arrow on my cover is pointing at correct?

rite now i have the arrow pointing at #1 2.0 on the gun? is that 18 degree?

Im half lost in your question.

Warm the car up fully.
Unplug the IACV plug and get the car to idle at 750 +/-50RPM and jump your service connector under the passenger side kick panel.

If you have an adjustable gun, set it to 0
Place the lead on the #1 spark plug wire and make sure there's no interference.

Point the light down. You are looking to align the middle of the 3 marks with the marks on the timing cover witch is 16. The single mark is the TDC mark for checking mechanical timing.

this^

did you jump the connector OP ? I've never heard of unplugging the iacv tho ? not saying you're wrong just not familiar with that way of doing it.

Sorry this is meant to bring the idle down to 750. Alot of cars I see these days with intake mods ect seem to be idling a bit high, so usually unplugging the IACV brings it right around 750.

rite now, the arrow on my cover is pointing at the 1st one of the three...my question is.. out of the 3... which one is advance?

the 3 thats together, which line is the advance?
