99 Civic - Dorman 673-439 Exhaust Manifold? Heat shields Required? Torque for nuts?
Does anyone here have experience with this Dorman Exhaust Manifold / Catalytic Converter?
Any suggestions or words of caution?
My original one is cracked and needs to be replaced.

Autozone sells the exact same manifold (more expensive of course), and the Dorman products I buy from them seem to a "hit or miss" sort of thing. I'm not telling you not to get it since I've never actually used it, just saying the quality can lean both ways. What I'd personally do is get a known good OEM replacement from the junkyard
With this awkward design, what would keep the OEM part from also cracking?
Never bought a part from a junkyard. Would something like this still be on the car or do they typically remove such parts and have them ready for sale?

lasted only 2yrs on my beater .
its probably manufactured in china .
I just went with this just installed it .lets see how long this baby last . Made in the the Philippine's . so far its more silent then the old one .gasket material is better. mounts a little closer to the block so your not able to use lower mounting bracket . no big deal . when it goes or if it goes in couple of years ill just pick up a new factory one instead . I was tight on cash at this time when I purchased this one . I'M happy so far .

oo yea Cali looks like your better off buying a new stock factory replacement.
guaranteed to give you 10 to 15 yrs . if your keeping the car for long time then stock cat is worth it .
can be had for 500.00
Dorman says it comes with a 5-year / 50,000 miles warranty. Did you try to use it?
I am looking at 18160-P2E-A22 aka CONVERTER, MANIFOLD, #4 in the attached image.
Do I need to also purchase COVER, FR. CONVERTER and COVER, RR. CONVERTER or can I use the ones from the old unit?
I am referring to #6 and # 7 in the attached image.
Thank you.

I don't even know how cali emissions would know if its an after market considering that if you can use the stock heat shield, it would cover it, unless they pull it off to inspect?
id use #6 & #7 it will lok like ur missing something and wont look good to the eye. and reuse the O2 sensor thats there already. no sense in chaging it if its not bad! have a good day!
I currently have a cracked original manifold.
I am trying to decide whether to replace it with Dorman or OEM.
My question is whether I could reuse the old ones, from the original converter, on the new OEM since buying new covers would add $100 to the already pricey manifold / converter unit (~$500).
