I need help.....I've been searching and searching; reading and reading and I can't quite seem to find a solid answer. There's a lot of opinions I read on the FAQ posted years ago about the correct axle combination for an h22 civic swap, but I wanna know if anyone has finally found the perfect setup?


Currently I'm running an H22a swap with a stock tranny and 90-93 Accord Intermediate shaft in my 95 EJ1. I bought some "swap" axles a while back and don't know much info on them b/c I bought them years ago without doing my research, I DO know that there from a brand called GSP, maybe someone's heard of them before? Anyway, I have ZERO problems with my driver side axle, no binding at all.

My passenger side is what gives me the problems. When I accelerate up to about 40-60 mph in a straight line I get slight vibrations here and there. When I turn RIGHT I get a heavy amount of vibrating. I'm running HCP mounts I believe (Again, I bought these mounts years ago when I was learning and the guy told me they were HCP, who knows though)

So I want to know if I should try my luck with a 90-91 Integra pass-axle or an 89 pass-axle? Should I even bother with swapping 92-96 Prelude inner cv's or should I just expand the snap ring on the DA axle and call it a day? Some input from ANYONE would be appreciated. I know a lot of people are still having the same issues, and I really don't want to throw money at parts I might not need, please help!

 

when i had a 94 eg coupe this is what i had a local shop make me.

92-00 outer cv joint/shaft mated to a vtec NON SH prelude inner cv. worked on slicks, nitrous, turbo.dd'd the car for 2+ yrs and traded it and last i knew those are still on car as of today with no issues. now i do NOT know off hand what half shaft i was using. most likely the accord stated above or a vtec non SH lude as well as i used a few parts from that accord for the swap but dont know for sure

 

I use 90-93 teg axle part #8000 from autozone, "snap ring expanded" with newest version of hasport mounts. no issues exept for having to replace them every other track day"1/4 mi" or every 4 months or so of normal driving.. once I get a vibration, i can tell it time to replace them. if you go this route get your axles from autozone with lifetime guarantee. also my partner ran the same combo with avid mounts from 200hp to 479 with no issues, then switched to hasport version 2 mounts making 550 still works fine for us. hope that helps

 

CB Accord 90-93 Midshaft with Driver Side 90-93 Integra Axle. Pssenger Side 90-93 Acura Integra Axle with an Accord Inner Joint on it so it will snap it or will slide out when turning. Or better yet destroy a trans. If you have Joint issues (binding) step down to a 88-89 Acura Integra on either side. 1/2" Shorter then 90-93.

 

I haven't heard of using a civic outer joint before? I will look into this, appreciate it.

 

I'm thinking of just trying out a 90-91 DA axle but having to replace it every 4 months seems like a hassle I rather not deal with. Anyone else have experience with a non-modified DA axle?

 

I'm a little confused, are you using an Accord inner joint? I'm a little skeptical about using the 88-89 axle many have said that it will slide out of your transmission...Anyone else have some info on using a 88-89 axle?

 

Passenger side axles must have Accord/Prelude Inner Joint so the clip will clip in. Integra axle by it self will just slide in and out. Try 90-93 Integra Axles first, with Accord Inner Joint on passenger side. Should be fine.

 

Okay, I'll go ahead and try this. My guess is that the axles I have on my car right now are 90-93 integra axles...They can't be anything else correct?

 

The solution to my problem was using a 90-93 Teg driver side axle. My halfshaft is out of an accord and my passenger side axle I used a 90-93 Teg axle with a 95 Accord/Prelude inner CV....I raised my car a bit (3 finger gap between tire and fender) and I am no longer binding at all....
