Default New to Hondas and this site.

Hey, My name is Tony D. and i'm from Tennessee. Im an ASE certified auto tech and Im new to the import scene and dont really know much about them. I recently purchased a 97 civic del sol with a D16y8 engine and auto transmission with a bad clunk in the engine for a good price and have set out to rebuild it.

After removing the engine and transmission from the car and disassembling the engine, The clunk turned out to be a broken crankshaft. Clean cracked and split across the counterbalance after #4 rod journal. I have a crankshaft out of a d16z6 and i am pretty surer that it will work with the d16y8 block and internals i have.

This is a learning experience for me and i want to do other work to the car after i rebuild the engine. I definitely want to do a 5-speed swap into it and maybe boost it later on. but for now i just want to get it back on the road.

I am looking forward to getting to know these cars and the people that drive them. as well as learning some new things along the way. I will post pictures of it after i take some and will post progress pics and updates as they go.
