Looking for info on upcoming b16a2 build
Hi, I just recently bought a B16A2 short block from my buddy (He had an extra) and i am planning on fully building it (obviously I'll need a head). But my problem right now is not knowing exactly what parts to buy, or how much power i can expect from it. I haven't exactly set a budget just yet because I'm not sure what to expect. And yes i want to go all out, with the rods, pistons, cams... But im not sure on what to do to the block and what what parts i need to get to match with the work i get done to the block/head.
I was thinking of shooting for about 200whp, but I've talked to the guy i bought the block from who's a bit more experienced than me and he says that 200whp is a bit steep. So i was just Wondering whats a good starting point to look at?
And no i haven't picked it up yet i still need to do that but, the short block is in pretty good shape, but it does need a few sensors and such, but that part i can figure out later on in the build.
And sorry if i posted this on the wrong section, keep in mind this is my first post on Honda-Tech.

B16's are not easy to get to the 200whp mark. And even with that power you still have no torque. To be honest if I were going to build a B16 I wanted to get power out of I would make it built for a 100 shot of nitrous strictly for racing only.
Rough outline would look like this...again this is just my opinion if you want power out of a B16 for racing, but a nice DD that will be reliable and get good MPG.

GSR head w/ITR or CTR cams, TB, and header
B16 tranny
100 shot of nitrous and you can make 225whp on the juice with a proper tune.

Thank you for your opinion, i definitely don want to go the nitrous direction (not a fan to be honest) but right now what I'm trying to figure out is how much should i bore the b16, they say 81.50mm - 82mm max with stock sleeves, and not sure on the compression ratio. I am mostly going to get my parts from BC (Brian Crower). GSR head should bolt right up, right? but how is that going to affect the compression ratio?
A 200whp B16 is going to be pretty highly strung. I would recommend more displacement. A 1.8 will be better, and a 2 liter will only need a mild build to get those numbers.
