A friend gave me the stock head unit out of his 97 ITR 'cause it had stopped playing CDs. This is the error message it gives on screen. Anyone seen this or know how to fix it? Can CD head units be cleaned out? Would this be an indicator that it's dirty?
hey, i had this same problem. but it was covered under warranty... i noticed that that after driving a while and letting the car sit for a while, the PE-0 dissapeared. it wasnt a permanent thing for me...
i had the same prob in my GSR.. here is what i did............
I unpluged my battery for about 2-3 minutes, got back in the car, and put i the correct code again.
do you have the security code?

yes I have the security code, and that's not the problem smart guy. i can listen to the radio just fine, it just gives that error message when I insert a cd and it won't play and then ejects it.
same thing happened to me, i believe it is a result of the lens getting dirty. IF you use a Cd player cleaner, and disconnect the battery, it *should* go away
i got a 97R...first mine stopped playing CD's then the PEO thing came on...and i tried to reset it...and now i cant even use my radio....and yes i do have the correct security code...stupid radio

its some kind of read error on the CD player.
Open the unit, and clean the pickup (laser lens that reads the CD) with a Q-Tip and rubbing alcohol.
75% of the time this will cure the probelm.

Thanks for the advice. What about the other 25% of the time?
