Default Proper Timing Belt Tension for D15B?

I have a JDM D15B not 3stage. I ordered a VX timing belt and a VX water pump along with a Z6 tensioner because the D15B did not have one when I got it.

I got every thing lined up and rotated it a couple times to take any slack out but it still seems way 2 lose to me. It also did not come with a tensioner spring so I took one from a D15B7.. Wondering if thats my issue or if using the Z6 tensioner is the issue?

Loosen tensioner. Turn crank pulley CC 3 teeth on the cam pulley. Tighten tensioner bolt.

Are they not the same? Are you using a new spring?

The JDM D15 had no spring so I took one from a d15B7 that looked in good shape. I have no problem getting a new one if I knew which one to get for the D15B. Thanks for the help btw.

Just install a new tensioner.

I can't remember if the spring is the same or not. The actual D15B7 tensioner itself is way different than a D15B Vtec/D15Z1/D16Z6. Btw the D15Z1/D16Z6 tensioner has a slightly bigger roller than the D15B Vtec, I'm not sure if it matters or not, my tensioner was good and I just kind of hoped it never went bad.

The spring is different, just checked part numbers. Erm, actually, the VX spring appears to only be available with the tensioner

Do this. The belt really isn't supposed to be all that tight.

D15Z1 (VX) and D16Z6 will definitely work. I just don't know about D15B7/D15B8.

In any case you will need to get the engine at TDC, loosen the tensioner adjusting bolt a turn, turn the engine counter clockwise so 3 teeth go up on the cam gear, tighten the adjusting bolt.

No, it's not listed separately, only as part of the tensioner. It is available separately for the D15B7/D15B8.

14516-P08-000 SPRING, TIMING BELT ADJUSTER

or

14520-P2A-305 TENSIONER SET, TIMING BELT (KOYO SEIKO)

Look closely at the parts listing for #15, it lists both, one is listed as a spring, the other the tensioner plus the spring, however both have identical prices, I'm pretty sure it doesn't matter which you order, 14520-P2A-305 is what will be on the sticker on the bag that shows up. I'm guessing that the earlier P08 number was at one point just for the spring and now simply supersedes up to the new P2A number, the P08 number is different than the part number for a D15B7/D15B8 which is still available separately, so by that logic it's almost certainly a different spring.
