Default bottem end....wha to look out for

Hi chap.

what to look out for on a bottom end.2.2 Ha.. just bought a Accord type r with engine knocking..

im going to source a new bottom end.. i need to know what to look out for.

is it true a type r crank can not be reground.

For bottom end knocking I would look for bent rods, take ur rod caps off and inspect bearings for wear and tear, also check ur crankshaft to see if it's been scarred

First thing I would do is get an oil pressure gauge on it. Start the car and take the oil cap off and peek in to see if there is enough pressure squirting oil in the head properly. If it is and it's reading low oil pressure, its more than likely spun bearings. I'm not a fan of turned cranks to begin with so I would just look to replace the crank, all bearings and have the rods checked for roundness.
