Okay so this is a bit of a unique situation.

I have a 94 LS body, with a 2000 B18C1. I've been out of the country for a year and a friend was driving it.

It didn't pass emissions so I got a new cat and O2 put on by a local shop while I was still gone.


When I'm crusin around, 5th gear, 50 MPH. It like back fires or hesitates. So I did a full tune up, problem still there.

But when I'm accelerating, it doesn't skip a beat!

There's about 90k on the engine.


What could this be?

Is it possible that the shop put on a O2 for the b18b1 and I NEED one for a C1?

Backfire through the intake is a temporary lean pop, may be in the fuel system, regulator, injector etc.. Backfire through the exhaust is valve timing usually or burnt seat or wrong adjustment under part throtle.
Someone else here may know what it is, good luck

 

Shoot, it doesn't POP like a gun going off. It just hesitates...

 

Did you adjust your valve lash to spec?

 

Check your vacuumn lines for leaks I had a similar problem and my vacumn lines were the problem
