Default Coolant isnt flowing through top hose

im helping my friend fix his car.
his radiator exploded one day and i was thinking it was just old and weak.
we replaced the radiator and it was still over heating so i guess the radiator exploded cause of the pressure tht built up.
can it be the thermostat?
hoses werent clogged.

The radiator "exploded"? Radiators rarely "explode". When excessive pressure exists in a system, it's usually blown into the expansion reservoir through the rad cap. Can you give a few more details?

Yeah . Im wondering why it exploded too.

All i know is that the radiator exploded on the top, and when we replaced the radiator, coolant still didnt flow through the top hose, and the car over heated. Probably thermostat is broken which causes the over heating? But if so it would be weird for a thermostat to cause radiator exploding. Should we just get a new cap and thermostat?

Do you mean to say that the top tank blew off the radiator? Or do you mean to say that coolant blew out the rad cap opening? Please be precise in your language.

Either way, it's starting to sound like you have a blown head gasket.

the top tank made a cracked opening on top and coolant splattered everywhere.

there's a tech service bulletin for the original factory top tanks blowing out.
take it to a dealer and they should remove the tank and replace it for free.
if they balk look up the regional service manager and send him an email.

Was the rad LOOSE on its mountings? In other words, even with the engine hot, is there enough free-play that you were able to easily wiggle the rad in all directions?

If the rad is snug and tight, it will eventually crack.

TSBs do NOT mean you get a free fix. Any free fix depends on the warranty, which is sometimes extended as part of the TSB, but usually is not. In this case, the normal 3-year powertrain warranty was left in place.

The TSB you refer to is 96-005, last updated Oct 14th, 1997. It covers all non-GS-R Integra model years from 1990 to 1997, but not all vehicles from those years are affected by the TSB. And I guarantee you that every single vehicle on the list is now out of warranty.

I see there's a TSB (94-016) for a rattle in the '94-'96 windows, but only for partially-open windows.

Anyway, what are you expecting? Perfection? Should automakers not release models until they are absolutely perfect? How long should that perfection last before imperfection is allowed to intrude? Are you perfect?
