Default Low oil but no leaks?

I got a b18c5. I recently did a oil change put 4 1/2 quarts in.

I checked the oil to see how its doing and it is on the bottom dot of the dipstick. There are no major leaks. But i put piece of cardboard underneath and there is like 1 to 2 drops of oil.

I did not hot vtec once, thats why im wondering why the oil is so low.

So anyone got any help as to what i should look for / do?

Also.. could it be that i did not let the car run and let the oil filter suck up some oil, before re-checking it again?

Thanks help would be reallly good

Yes, having a very similar issue. other than the dip stick tube popping out I can't think of where the oil would be going, so anyone else having a similar issue?

when checking your oil, let the car sit and cool down for a little while, so all the oil drains back into the pan and you get a correct reading, if you just turned the car off and the car is still hot, alot of oil is still running through the motor so you wont get a accurate reading

also check your dipstick tube, they are famous for getting loose and letting oil out, that happened to my c5 and thats why it blowed up

Don't have to be in vtec to burn oil. Did you use a new crush washer on the oil pan drain plug?

Anybody know how to properly repair the oil dipstick tube that seems to pop out for everybody?

The bottom of the tube (which holds the dipstick) just snaps in.

I had a loose tube and I slightly pulled it outward (towards the sky) as I twisted it clockwise. It re-wedged itself into place and that was 10,000 miles ago.

Check pcv valve, if it doesn't rattle, replace it.

Check IM for oil splash.

Check around head gasket, engine bay and underbody for oil splash.

Check spark plugs

Check if there is oil in the coolant

Check if there is gas mixed with the oil

Does the car burn coolant?

Gas mileage going way down?

Is engine temp normal?

Do you use syntec oil? If so try regular oil to see if it makes a difference.

Check timing just in case the tbelt has skipped a notch or if you have adjustable cam gears that one hasn't slipped. Do you run agressive timing?

Check for codes and note if there are any.

Test under different conditions:idle, under load, high rpm ,upshift, compression and check for smoke and other irregularities.

Do a leakdown test if you haven't found your answer by now.

I'll give that a shot. But I'm pretty sure it just spins around.
