Icon6 Just swapped b16a into da9 having issues need help

What's up honda tech, I just finished up my b16a swap into my 91 integra. Im having some bugs I need to work out and I need help figuring them out.

First off, my starter doesn't always want to work, it just clicks. Grounds are good battery terminals are good, when I touch a grounded wire to the positive it'll spark and then after that the starter will work for a bit but then stop working. I know it's a common problem but I haven't found a solution in any forums that fixes my problem.

Second, I started the motor up for the first time and it ran pretty good, youu can tell it needed to be tuned but then after a few times it started shutting off right after it starts or it wouldn't start at all. I can't figure out if it's fuel or spark I'm not getting bc by the time I go to check it'll start, but then gives me problems again.

Third, my timing belt keeps backing off and I'm scared it's gonna fly off. It's tightened down as tight as it'll go. It's a gates timing belt. I was told I needed a b16 belt with me setup so I got one ( b16a gsr head and cams) the belt was pretty hard getting on. I just don't want it to fall off when I'm driving I don't know if I need a different belt or what.

Last, there's a solid grey wire on the back of the harness(obd0 harness converted to obd1) that doesn't plug into anything. It has copper stranded wire with sliver wire surrounding it all inside the insulation. Again no clue what this is. Not sure if it's needed or not or if it's the culprit of any of my problems.

If anyone can help me out here with any of these problems I'd be very thankful. I've tried troubleshooting these problems in the service manual for a 91 integra from a dealership but they don't really have my exact problems. Or at least I can't find it. And don't tell me google my problems bc I did. I always do. I just couldn't find the exact answer I need.

#1: sounds like ur starters shittin the bed, get a diff 1 n try it. U can get 1 at ur local parts dealer n if its not the problem then jus take it back BUT it sounds to me like the starter has a dead spot(s) in it or its jus giving out.

#2: make sure ur fuel pump is working! Turn the key to ignition ON but dont try to start it, if u hear a click when ur CEL turns out ur main relay is working, if not it isnt. My buddys DA had a main relay issue n it would only work part of the time, if this isnt working ur fuel pump isnt working. It could also b ur dizzy, make sure ur getting spark thru the wires. I do the non-conventional screwdriver on the rad support trick lol

#3: not sure bc i didnt do the obd1 conversion n am not there to physically c it. Mayb post a pic if u can!

I swapped n 5spd converted my 92 DA to an xsi b16 n ran a factory p30, runs AMAZING! Never got it tuned so not sure y urs is running like it NEEDS to b tuned.

I found out I'm not getting spark sometimes so I'm guessing ill need a new dizzy.. And my timing tensioner is brand new so I'm not sure why it's backing off. And I'll try to get a pic of the wire harness tomorrow when I get home.

What id do with the timing belt issue is take the outside timing covers off, there has to b something thats not functioning properly. Did u compare the gates belt length with the original b16 belt? If its the rite belt im goin with a faulty tensioner, is it OE honda?

Check n c if theres a bulb in the CEL spot in the cluster(shiesty ppl remove this, has happened to me b4), the wire could b nothing but would like to c where it is n what exactly its suppose to go to.

Guess i didnt finish "what id do with the timing belt" lol. Take the outside covers off, put the car in time, measure where ur tensioners sitting from a fixed point, crank the motor n c if its further or closer from that fixed point. If everything is oem b16 besides the belt, there could POSSIBLY b wear on any of the gears the belt rides on(never heard of anything other than the tensioner goin out tho n thats even rare)

If your tensioner is backing out its probably not torqued down to 40lbs

I learned that the hard way. Hand tight will not work.

Also your starter solenoid is starting to go bad. Mine had the exact same issue. It got so bad that eventually directly jumping it to the battery wouldnt get it to kick over

The timing belt seems to back off but only to a certain point.. I did have it torqued down to spec as I did for every thing. The tensioner was oem Honda. I couldn't compare the belts bc I didn't have a belt to begin with I build from scratch pretty much. And the cam gears are the only thing thats not new. And they're off a gsr. I'm not sure if that makes a difference. My belt seems pretty tight to me. Seems just as tight as my friends tegs does. Ill post a picture of how far it backs off before it stops. I don't feel comfortable with how it is. My buddy went to take the tensioner bolt off and used an American socket am stripped it so now I can't get it off..

And with the starter, it's the second starter that's done this to me with this car. When I replaced it it stopped for a bit and when I pulled my ls the starter worked fine but now it doesn't.
