Default EM1 guage cluster issue

Bought my SI and it had a set of glow gauges that failed to remove properly and the fuel needle broke off and 60 dollars later. I installed the fuel temp set in the cluster set the open cluster in the car with our case to see if it will would warm up. Fuel gauge did not move so I was hoping it was just low on fuel so I filled it up and it moved the fuel gauge, on the way home I was playing with the dimmer switch to see if I could see if the needles would light up. everything flickered on the dash and went dead. The crazy thing is when I turn the damn head lights on it works.... Does anyone know what might be happening?

Have you tried an un molested factory cluster?

Not yet, i'm also going to try to unhook the battery and try to reset the gauge module tomorrow. I'm going to try everything I can think of.

I'd find a friend with a good cluster and swap them, will only take about 5 minutes

where did they wire the glow stuff into ? check the wiring at the dimmer switch. You have to be careful when removing the screws that hold in the gauges some cluster have different length's that half to go in the right spot and if you over tighten them it can break the wire's on the gauge
