Default 97 odyssey swap engine question

ok guys, here goes: i bought a 97 odyssey with a blown motor, swapped in an obd1 f22b imported motor with no crank sensor. ive tried doing the bypass with no luck. the C plug for the ecu is an obd2a yet it does not have a c1 pin or c11 pin. im using the obd2 dizzy. motor turns but wont fire up. only dtc im getting is P1359 - ckp/tdc sensor disconnection.

i checked the pin out for an acura CL and i read somewhere to use C2 (CKPP) and C12 (CYPM).
http://www.carolinahondas.com/instal...d-0-1-2-a.html

i spliced them with no luck. then i read an updated version of this saying to cut C1 so it isolates the signal and receives it from C4
http://www.carolinahondas.com/instal...tml#post763782

this is the only other pin out i can find and for civics and tegs.
http://technet.ff-squad.com/wiring.obd2a.htm

so my question is this, can i still bypass the crank, or am i doing something wrong here using C2 and C12? i really dont want to spend more money and time replacing the oil pump.

any help is greatly appreciated. thanks guys

try to find the actual pinout of the ECU you've got in the Ody. if you can find the FSM for it online somewhere that would be ideal. you can view the pinouts of both the original sensors and see if something in the distributor would even be similar enough to work. then wire that in according to what you find if it looks possible.

the other option, the one you are trying to avoid buy maybe should have done before the swap is to exchange the oil pumps.

Believe me bro, had i known i was gonna run into this i would have done it along time ago. I've only ever delt with d and b series motors into obd1 cars. but now i have kids and needed a van. i was told by someone that u cud splice into the knock sensor and get the reading off that but never tried it.

I've been trying to find the odyssey pin out with no luck. i figured since that model was built on the accord chassis it wud be similar but no luck there either. if by this weekend i can't find a good bypass route ill end up doing the oil pump. just really sucks that i got it all together and the bypass didn't work for me.

thanks for your help tho.

Ok, heres the update: motor from nad auto, brand new oil pump housing, brand new ckp sensor, new distributor, good belts, new battery, new altenator, good plugs and wires. Not getting spark from distributor. Checked ignition switch, ignition is good. Fuses all good.

Motor turns great. Fuel pump primes good. I know this has to be an electrical issue but im runnin out of places to look. Ive checked my grounds and cant find a problem.

When i first put in the new ckp sensor i was gettin spark from the distributor. Left to the store, came back, then no more spark.

Anyone know where i shud start looking next? Im runnin out of parts to throw at this thing.

Jspec, I have a 96 i did this one with a jdm f22b. I used the old obd2 engine harness, the old obd2 ecu, the old oil pump/housing, old crank position sensor, old distributor.

Well i tried all old parts first before replacing everything else. Little by little i kept replacing parts i thought were the issue but without results. I tried another distributer and even replaced the crank sensor with another new one. Still no spark at the distributor. Im already upside down on this thing and theres no way of making my money back at all.

Probably will end up putting it all back together and dropping it off at the dealership as my last resort.

As for the other post, if u dont have any insight on how to fix this issue please dont post on here. I dont need smart *** remarks i need help. Thank you.

And just so u know, the first gen odysseys run the same motors as those year accords.

Be that as it may I'm going to help out.

You just need to swap your existing crank timing pulley, balance shaft pulley, crank and fluctuation sensor assembly from the old motor to the new motor and be good to go.

Put everything back the way it was. You will need your old intake manifold and probably the exhaust manifold as well. Use your old distributor.

All jdm f and h motors come without the crank timing/crank sensor assembly. You just need to swap it all over.

check your grounds and check the wire harness for loose connections

I never said to swap the balance shaft, apparently you just did.

You're an idiot. Go crawl back into that hole you came from and leave the grown up stuff to the adults. We got real advice to give out here.
