93 del sol separating engine from transmission
so in another forum i said i was going to replace the headgasket. well i ended up pulling off the head and snapping a headbolt while doing so. also the block was corroded. and seeing it had 240k miles, i figure i have the thing apart, i might as well pull the block and replace it with one with less miles. so i got the 2 motor mounts on the driver side off. all the wiring and hoses are off. and the 5 bolts i could find holding the transmission to the engine off..... my question is are there any other bolts holding the transmission to the block? i only found 5 17mm bolts. but the transmission doesn't want to separate. also do i need to pull the cranks serpentine pulley for the block to fit out the top? if so, any good methods for cracking that bolt loose? thanks!
one of your two starter bolts holds your block and trans together. if you were going to pull the block id say pull the engine and trans as a whole and then take apart, replace block, mate block and trans and put it back in. also may want/need to replace clutch/flywheel depending on condition since it would be out of the car anyway
Besides the starter bolt there is one bell housing bolt that goes through from the other side on the back of the block that everyone seems to miss.
Just a heads up you can't pull the engine with the transmission still in the car unless it's an automatic, you can't slide it over enough to clear the clutch.

i ended up disconnecting all the transmission mounts too so i can tilt and slide it over to the left (pass side). looks like there may be enough room now

If you did that you might as well just pull it with the engine, it's much easier that way. It's also a lot easier to leave the engine harness connected and just unplug it at the shock tower plugs.
