So I have been having this issue with my '99 ek and it seems to stop by itself when i have the car in reverse. As I start driving backwards, the car seems to brake by itself. I do have a few issues with my transmission so i'm not sure if that could be the problem. When I say my tranny has problems, i just mean that some of the gears grind. This issue really makes parallel parking a pain in the ***. It's a 1999 civic ek with a d16y8 (manual transmission). Any input will be greatly appreciated.

 

Seized brakes?

 

I don't think that's the problem. The car moves fine when moving forward. I'm just very curious as to why my car does this. I never heard of anyone having this problem

 

yeah sounds like brakes to me too, unless its been like that for a while... and being fine going forward doesn't really mean much.

 

You might wanna check your clutch

 

One of my boys had same proble new clutch later it stoped the problem
