what do you think about gsr pistons and rods in LS bottom end? Just curious about performance. I am popping on a gsr head! so LS/VTEC with gsr pistons and rods...
Better use a GS-R crank with those rods, unless you want to introduce your pistons to your cylinder head.
GS-R rods are longer. This will result in a catastrophe unless you shorten the stroke to equalise things.

Longer stroke + same deck height = shorter rods.
The LS has shorter rods. GS-R rods are longer.

you want a really nice set up??????/
here it goes this is a really nice running LS/VTEC
gsr crank
civic type r pistons
gsr rods
ls block
gsr head
type R cams
97-98 type R ecu
fuel regulator
and dam its late cant remember the rest but im surei will by the mourning
i ran 13.6 on this setup
peace and i hope i helped a bit

gsr rods are shorter than ls rods. you wont be able to use gsr rods just stick with ls stock rods. for pistons i would go with b16a or type r pistons that would up the compression more than gsr pistons

GSR rods are .9mm or .035" longer than LS rods.
The GSR block is the tallest of all bseries.(212.39mm/8.362" vs 211.84mm/8.34" for the LS).
The real problem with this is the big end width difference. The gsr rods are narrower on the big end than the LS. You wouldn't have much oil pressure.
GSR rods with a GSR crank will work in an LS block. It'll be tight with .0075" deck clr provided your using stock parts, and the block has never been decked.

my LS/VTEC setup, it runs great, and the rings never seated properly (my fault though)
99-00 Civic Si piston
JDM B16 head ( with the head CCs, and the pistons, approx. 11.5:1 compression)
skunk2 intake manifold.
everthing on it is OEM Honda, except for the intake manifold, no block guard or girdle.....to b honest i'm surprised it hasn't blown up yet, 7k miles so far, and running strong.... and yes, i drive the hell out of it.

So its OK to use stock LS rods in a LS/VTEC as long as you change the pistons?

No... GSR rods are the longest rods in all B-series engines.
the longest Bseries rod is 141.7 mm on the B20A which is from the older Prelude. The 95mm stroke crank on the B20A is often used as part of the integra stroker kits you see out there to make them 2L (eg. Crower's storker kit) yielding a horrendously low rod ratio.
cheers
