D16Z6 Cranks but Won't Start (93 Civic Si)
Hey Honda-Tech!
I'm hoping you guys can help me out with this because I'm puzzled atm.
My 93 Civic Si cranks but won't start. I haven't had any problems with it starting and it just randomly stopped working yesterday. Just after I drove it 3 hours earlier.
I turn the key and hear the fuel pump start up
Turn the key again and the engine cranks, but doesn't turn over.
After doing this you can smell gas near the fuel rail/injectors
First I Charged the Battery - Didn't turn over
Then I Re-Solder the Main Relay - fuel pump seems to function normally
So I tested the spark plugs and found out I'm getting no spark whatsoever
I then replaced the Distributor Coil -Still no spark
Please let me know what else I could try.

any CEL?
clean and tighten ground wires.
check timing?
check the resistance to the coil
is battery voltage getting to the coil and ignitor?

I checked and cleaned all ground wires.
Checked Fuses - All are Fine
Going to check timing and battery voltage to coil/ignitor next
also the ICM.. they can be taken to your local autoparts store and tested.. there are DIY testing of them online..

Most parts stores don't test ICMs. Hell the honda dealership in my town couldn't even test it. Never got around to testing the ICM myself. I had one distributor with a shot coil that barely worked at all. And one with a shot ICM that misfired occasionally. The coil tested out ok on both dizzys. But I took the ICM out of the one with the shot coil and put it in the other dizzy. It's been running fine ever since. Point of the story. Tests aren't always completely accurate in diagnosing. The numbers are accurate and in spec but there can still be a problem. This is mostly just referring to volt meters. That ICM test might actually be completely accurate. Or maybe I'm completely wrong and don't know how to use a meter or my meter is not reading correctly. That's just my experience.
Also I'd check the ground on the thermostat. Clean that up and give it good contact then try again.
Edit: Didn't read you already checked all the grounds. Well that's the one you should be concerned about so it wouldn't hurt to double check

if you getting fuel and spark you should start, i had same sorta problem and turned out to be the igniter inside the dizzy cap(looks like a square bit with about 4-5 wires plugged in ) i just replaced that and off i went.
plus make sure the fuel is getting inside the cylinders? you said you was smelling fuel? maybe you flooding the system? hope you get it sorted buddy!!

I wouldn't take that warranty into consideration much. I'm sure there's a whole list of things to void it which you may have already done. Maybe I'm wrong and just too skeptic. And I forget if this applies to the ICM but it may be good to put some thermal paste on it
