Icon2 Head stamp is p2j-3 with 97 to the right side

Ok so here goes nothing. I've been searching and searching for like a week now. At least 8 hrs at it haha. But my head is stamped p2j-3 with a 97 to the right side. I have found NOONE with this stamp. Now p2j-3 is the Stamp to a y8. Which is what i assumed this to be, but I have built my entire d16 up and am in the process of finishing the head, when we discover that the new stage 2 cam from crower doesn't line up at all with the old cam or rocker arms at all. Can someone help me in figuring out what cam I have or what cam I need? I have been working with a reputable engine builder and talking back and forth with crower and have yet to find out what head I officially have and why this cam will not fit! O ya! Also the stamp is d16y8 on the block and it does have vtec. Only one solenoid. With a 5 speed manual. And it's out of a 97 2dr ex coupe

I've looked at every head code site you can find. NOONE has this same p2j-3 with the year 97. It's always 99.

Where did you get the cam from ? also what's been done to the head my suggestion would be to first confirm you have the right cam for a y8 head then if you do have the right cam and it won't fit find another y8 head and swap all the stuff over(if it's aftermarket stuff like springs retainers and such). I see no reason other then incorrect cam that it wouldn't fit a y8 head is a y8 head as far as I know don't know the d16's that well but still.

Why not post pics of the head, in fact post pics of the rocker arms and valves. It would be funny you bought a head you didn't know what it was.

Yeah I'm betting you have an HX D16Y5 either engine or head. The Y8 and Y5 head castings are identical and have the same part numbers. The only differences being that the Y5 uses a roller rocker setup, different cam, etc. Post a pic of the head with the valve cover removed. If it looks like this you have a Y5 head:

Didn't buy the head it was on the car when I bought it to start this project. Anyways. It's possible the dipshit b4 me changed out the heads. Would be rather upsetting but just a little more money is all ill look into that

If this head is in fact a y5. All I have to switch is the rocker arm assembly though right??? I am practically finished with this build just need this and motor is built. Then I'm dropping it in and taking it to a tuner to have new ecu w/ hondata and everything installed and tuned...

So the guy helping me build the engine says we would have to stay with the caps that are on the head right now and pull the rocker arms off and put that with these caps so it all matches?? I have no idea about this but he says the machine those parts together and u don't want to interchange them like that. Either way it be able to be done and work fine?? Or just get a new head and forget all that ****?

What about a z6 rocker arm assembly? Is it the same as y8?

IIRC YES. so you've built an all motor D-series ? interested in what that puts down.

Crower tells me a z6 is the same as a y8. Anyways it's not an all motor build, it'll be turbo. But I will def post on here what it puts down. Ill say I've put a shitload of $$$ and time and research into this build! And when I got to the head I found out dude b4 me put a y5 head on my y8 block and I didn't know because the vtec still kicked at 5600 and it redlined at 7200 and ran like a y8. Anyways here's what I got so far in this:

D16 block w/
Srp pistons
JE rings
Eagle h beam rods
Arp rod bolts
Clevite performance bearings
Toga high volume oil pump
Brand new timing kit w/ Kevlar enforced belt
Block resurfaced and bored to 75.5mm
Stock flywheel?? Good choice or no??
Stage 2 competition clutch kit

Y5 head with y8 rocker arm assembly
(Essentially a y8 is what me and the engine builder decided??)
Stainless oversized valves (crower)
Titanium springs and retainers (all from crower)
Crower stage 2 turbo cam for y8
Y8 intake mani
550cc injectors??
Bbk throttle body 62mm I think
AEM high volume fuel rail
Fuel lab fpr
Inline HV fuel filter w/ stainless lines
Skunk2 alpha series radiator w/ silicone hoses
New radiator fan

Now for the fun part (poke fun all you want I guess)
Cx racing turbo with A/R .63 inlet .50 out I believe
Cx racing FMIC and piping ( will be welded professionally)
He'll the whole kit is cx. But got it for $200
38mm wastegate I believe
Gonna run either hondata or AEM I think
Also I plan on putting more money into a better turbo soon but for now this is gonna have to work!!!
Also do you guys think imma need a oil cooler? It's my daily driver...
What about my tranny? Will it hold up if I tune it out around 300hp on the daily?
Also what is a safe boost psi when I've bored it out to 75.5mm?? ( ha guy building my motor simply told me 1 psi less than when t blows... But I got a lot of money in this and want an experienced answer??)

that's .5 over weaking the cylinder walls a lil bit... max on stock sleeves is 400hp..ARP head studs are a must when building a boosted motor. the oil pump can be easily ported yourself instead of buying over priced toga parts.. on a high HP car you wont need to worry about a lighten flywheel keep the stock to keep rpms up between shifts and boost up....
