P72 will have the mapping needed for a gsr while a p28 will need to be chipped in order to run the proper map. Both are perfectly capable of doing the job. What is your reasoning for swapping ecu's?

primarily for tuning and mod reasons. jus simply easier to deal with....plus emissions n i dont wanna see a check engine light on all the time

If your in a state with emission testing, you will fail with a obd1 ecu.

if you have the stock intake manifold, then a p72 is the only answer.

Ah forgot about that. I ditched mine as soon as I bought my swap.

I am looking for a new manifold asap. That and a new throttle body.
