Default LS\Vtec v.s. GSR

What typically is the HP yielded from an LS\VTEC conversion? Compared to the GSR with all things being equal (driver, tires, weight etc.) which setup would win between an otherwise stock LS\VTEC v.s. a stock GSR?

LSVTEC is FASTER,
Although, I'd rather have a GSR that is straight fromt he factory. YOu never know how long or reliable LSVTEC is....I may just crap out on you one day. As to a factory GSR, will last FOREVER!

How can you have a stock LS/VTEC? A hybrid motor can't be considered stock.

I think he means like no turbo or nothing done to the internals...

by stock I mean the only thing being done to the car IS the ls\vtec conversion i.e. no intake, exhaust, turbo etc. Most people (especially the people on this board) should be able to figure that out

if built right a ls/vtec would whoop on a gsr...even a b18c5.....but in any case this a lame topic becuz no one in there rite mind would but a stock intake manifold, headers on a ls/vtec.....

What makes the ls\vtec conversion so great?? The displacement? or what?

Best of Both worlds. LS has better Low end power, and GS-R has a better High End power. LS/Vtec = good low, mid, and top end power.

The displacement on a B18B is slightly more than the GSR/ITR. Not much, but enough to make a difference in power.

ls/vtec = easier on wallet, little more power

gsr = guaranteed honda reliability, higher revs

if u can build it right, or find a shop to build it right for you, go for ls/vtec, i like the setup. but if you just want a stock-ish car, just get a b18c.

Yeah it all depends on you money options. The ls/vtec is cheaper and you can build it to be reliable, but will never be as reliable as a gsr or type r engine is.

Yeah, I agree entirely, the cost and dangers of a B18 LS/Vtec just aren't worth it in my opinion, but a CRVtec setup is a beast

Bascially more torque. you feel it more on the lower rpm's which it needs.

Can anyone define building an ls/vtec right? Everyone says you gotta build it right but no one has said how. Also remember that most people who have ls/vtecs have the ls tranny. You need another 600 bucks to shell out for a b16 or gsr tranny.

Have a shop that knows what they're doing built it, if not shops that have already done so. Also tuned properly too. Just try not to mickey mouse it or skimp on on parts.

So let's say I have an LS block with a B18C1 head and 6900 redline(LS redline), should we keep the VTEC crossover at 4400rpm, or change it accordingly? Will it be worthless to even keep the LS factory redline?

yeah..worthless to keep the 6900 redline.. GS-R redline around 8000. Use it all. as for the crossover, it depends on ecu. mine is i think 5600, kinda high but good for street driving.

the dyno should tell you where the x-over point should be.
