need opinions... first time painting y integra today
I finally decided what color(s) I wanted to do my car, so I started the paint process today. I'm doing a 2tone. The hood/roof/hatch I did black with a twist. I did a jet black but I mixed in some red so that when the sun hits it, theres a small hint of red in it. Did that today.... Now the rest of the car will be a modification of Milano Red. I'm starting with milano red but adding a small amount of yellow and orange to give it a slightly different hue. Before the criticism comments ( if any ), keep in mind I am doing this myself with no help from anyone else other than instruction and guidance from someone who paints for a living.
starting out:

prepped for primer:

primed:

hood with the black laid:

roof with black laid:

hatch with color:

trunk is done:

I'll take some more and better pics tomorrow after I wet sand and buff it all..... My friend thats teaching me how to do this said that for my first time doing this it actually came out pretty well..... I only had one run in the paint and he says that its small enough that when I wet sand and buff the car it will come out..

yeah. its got some orange peel in it. ( i expected it since I never painted a car before ) once I do the Red on the rest of the car, I'm gonna wet sand it and get the orange peel out then bring it to a detail shop and get it buffed/waxed, etc.... whatever it is they do to make a car shine. lol
Ya you can see it in the lift gate. One thing to help with single stage and orange peel, Slow down alittle. You want your coats to look how you want the finished product to look. Cutting and buffing single stage isnt a good idea, it has very thin coat of UV protection so when you sand it off the paint will fail quicker.
Just cut and buff it yourself; it's easy and you'll save a lot of money. Wet sand with 1000, 1500 and then 2000. Once you're done polish with meguiars 105 to bring out the shine. I've also used their Solo system but I'm not sure if that product is still around. It's easier to use than 105 IMO.
