Default P1399, P304, and P1399 Please help

I have a 2000 Honda Accord 4 cyl auto trans with about 260,000 km I have owned it since 160,000. My wife drives it 200 km a day over a mountain pass at 110 - 120 km/hr. It uses a liter of oil between changes but is a strong runner.

Two months ago the fuel pump failed. I changed it to an AC DELCO. It turned on the Check engine light but I did not read the codes since I assumed it was learning the new pump. The light went out and it ran fine for a while.

Two weeks ago it started to stumble and miss at low rpm under load. I pulled the codes and found P172 too rich p304 cyl 4 misfire P1399 No info available on this one.

Yesterday was my first chance to look at it. I put in a new set of NGK plugs. The old ones were a nice tan colour but showed some wear. The cap and rotor looked good and I didn't change them because I bought the wrong ones. The plug wires tested at 12-16,000 ohms. I didn't change them because they were within spec and weren't arcing in the dark.

I pulled the EGR and bench tested it per my Haynes manual. Continuity from 1-2 and 1-3 also applied voltage to 4 and 6 and the car stalled as per the manual. When I applied voltage on the bench the EGR opens and closes fine. I cleaned it but it only had light soot deposit.

I applied compressed air to the egr passage to the plenum. I am pretty sure it is getting through. I pushed a flexible wire through and it passed freely into the plenum from what I can tell.

I sprayed the inside of the throttle body with carb cleaner because it was coated with black oily goo.

After several test drives the car continues to throw P1399 and miss from 1000-3000 rpm. Any ideas where to go from here?

Thanks

I just put a new cap and rotor as well as a set of NGK wire. No improvement. I pulled the plug wires one at a time at idle and the engine barely reacts to the removal of cyl #4. When I remove 3,2, or 1 the engine noticeably stumbles. I will go check compression now and see if my Haynes manual has any testing for injectors.

Help???

BTW I now have codes for 1399 as well as a mis fire on each of the cylinders. I cleared them all but the computer obviously noticed what I was doing and threw the right codes.

Help??

compression from 1,2,3,4 is 170, 170,170 185. So cyl 4 is the highest at 185. I listened to the injectors with a stethoscope and number 4 is definitely less crisp than the others. Might pull them and check. Pulled all four injectors look pretty clean. I will soak in cleaner and re-install when I can get o rings. Should I dig into the plenum and make certain my egr port is not plugged?

Dug into plenum. No blockages. Black and oily on the inside of plenum. EGR port has very light soot carbon deposit.

What should I do next?

If my valves were out of spec could they cause this?

This issue is solved. It was probably a clogged fuel injector For the result please see my posts on Honda Accord Forum:

I did not get a single reply here so I cant be bothered to type it out twice.

Thanks
