The oil light is flashing on my 1991 Aero Deck. It has an F22B engine (non-VTEC) that came out of a 1993 Prelude. I replaced the oil pressure sending unit in April 2013 because it was leaking. The oil was a little low, but I added sufficient oil to fix that. The light is still flashing when I drive, and sometimes comes on solid when at idle. What is the best way to test the oil pump? I'd like to make sure that is the problem before I yank it out of the engine.

 

Get a gauge and screw it into the port where the op switch is.

 

id try to fix this problem before it gets worse.

 

A quick update. I removed the oil pressure sending unit and installed an oil pressure test gauge. I measured 30 psi at idle and 80 psi at 3000 rpm with the engine warmed up. Looks like I am taking my oil pressure sending unit in for a warranty exchange.

 

It's been a couple weeks since I installed the new oil pressure sending unit, and the oil pressure idiot light has not come on once.
