Default Sputter/misfire

I know there is already a post about this issue (https://honda-tech.com/forums/honda-crx-ef-civic-1988-1991-3/crx-misfire-help-please-2684603/) but the problem he had is different, and similar than mine.
I have a 91 CRX with a D15B2(sadly) engine wise it's stock other than a CAI and a motor mount and manual tranny swap.

The story:
a couple nights ago I was going out to cruise around town as I normally do and I looked down at my temp gauge and it was running extremely hot so I turned on my radiator fan(guy who had it before me put a toggle switch to the aftermarket rad fan) and it cooled it down a lot and started running at normal temp. I headed down another street and it started to over heat again so I turned the fan back on and it didnt move so I pulled over and put my hood up and took off my radiator cap very carefully and it was completely dry, looked up at my hood and there was just an explosion of water in one single spot. put some water in there and drove around and all was fine turned around and I had traveled... ~5 miles since I had stopped because the over heating and I was at a red light and I went and it was sputtering and misfiring. I was low on gas so I thought that maybe I was just out of gas and was running on fumes so I put some gas in it this morning via gas can and it was running fine until up about an hour ago and it started doing it again. it seriously is running on what feels like 2 cylinders for a while and then eventually gets back to all 4 then goes back to 2-3 and it sounds like a lawn mower.....

it does it after its been warm for a while so im just.... confused.... ive heard distributor, cap, rotor, plugs, plug wires... ive replaced my plugs about a month ago so it cant be my plugs, or i wouldnt think. any ideas...?

So i took off my intake and noticed a hole on a heater hose then took off my dist cap and there was moisture in there. i cut my heater hose just after the hole and put it back on cleaned the moister out of my cap, sanded down my points and put it back in. I also cleaned out my AICV and went to start it and it started fine as it always did and then i went and drove it around the block and i stopped and just completely stalled out. so i turned my car back on and then when i got back to my house i was looking at my tach and it was idling at around ~350 rpm. not 3.5k, 350. i also adjusted my valve lash.
any answers?

My teg did something like that not even a week ago. She over heated, and turns our her water pump was shot. So I replaced it, but she had a slight misfire. Thankfully I didn't let her stay super hot for a long time, but there was stuff in her engine that was melted. I would check the engine. Take the valve cover off and look around. Check her plugs, even tho you just replaced them. If you let her run too hot for too long, you might just have to replace the whole engine. :/

Every motor has week links in its design. Honda's tend to be overheating. A more-likely scenario before engine swap (which is a possibility) is head gasket replacement which isn't as difficult and expensive as a complete swap. There are a few things even cheaper and easier to check before that. FYI, there's a section here that has free downloadable pdf copies of factory manuals that's super helpful.

i have a manual downloaded on my laptop(doesnt actually help all that much....).
and until the last night it over heated i hadnt had aproblem with it until i had pretty much rebuild my front end to figure out why my passenger side caster was off; come to find out it has severe damage to that side and the traction bar and everything was pushed back about an inch and a half and caused it to blow CVs every time i dumped the clutch! solved that temporarily by cutting the traction bar and taking 1.5 inches out and welding on a sleeve.
trust me, if you saw this car.... you would wonder why i bought it.....

Wow! I didn't expect that report. While it's definitely a bummer, I don't understand how it relates to an over-heating issue. Even with the extensive damage that I've had to deal with on my EJ, that wasn't one of the problems. Can you take and post some pictures?

yea ill take some tomorrow, im thinking about doing a write on my slight tuck/shaving job. lol. ill put pictures on here to try and get input to see if anyone can help me figure out how to get my body straightened out, as well.
and the over heating was cause by the hose that connects from the.... i believe its the intake mani to the heater core valvey thing haha. on the engine side it blew a small hole through it; when i can im gonna get that super expensive coolant stuff that doesnt expand or evaporate and you never gotta change it thats when im done with all my engine work, though. so another.... probably few years.

Ya, one step at a time.Hopefully it won't take years though. Like your project, my EJ is under-going a major restoration now and is on deck for getting a fairly extensive swap set-up. The heater- core and hoses were some of the things that I had to change out. I'll have to check-out that valve.

thats whats wrong with the body, the seam sealer's broken in 3 spots, in the center of the inside of the engine bay, where that panel and the firewall meet, and right next to the strut tower.... makes the front of my car look kinda derpy... if looking at the front the left side drops down about.... an inch and a half or so and my bumper cant even be held by the little clips next to the tire... any idea how to fix that situation? lol
