Default Fouled Plug/Missfire-And- Rough/"Strange idle.

Warm starting is rough (sometimes) (by rough i mean very low and mor shaking, the oil light will turn off then on again for a second)

and idle is roug (always).(when car is warm: )
*cold start=smooth because of 1500-1000 rpm idle)

Idle is 670 but if I am driving and come to a stop it will stall at 1000 for a few seconds and THEN fall back to 670.

I am pretty sure it has to do with cylinder 3 being fouled. (not sure why) I don't know if it is oil, fuel, coolant, or water ( it looks like rust on tip if spark plug)

Please reference picture below-right is cyilder 2-left is cylinder 1 same mileage.

Car has FULL tune up so it's likely not any marine ve related.

I am leaning towards a intake gasket leak (tried spraying with spray bottle, but no evidence of leak-only could spray the top gasket)

Any advice/Tips much appreciated!

maybe a compressiion test or leakdown test might give you better insight onto whats going on in or around cylinder #3

Car and engine info?

Get the block test kit from AutoZone to test for exhaust gases in the coolant.

Thanks for the responses!!

I have not done a leak down/compression test. (But would like to)

I also heard putting a vacume gauge on the brake booster line would basically test for good engine operation. ( is that true)

I tried to diagnose a HG problem...but I have 0 signs...
(NONE OF FOLLOWING: coolant in oil/oil in coolant, water in exhaust...)

Is there a definitive test for HG?!

Sorry for missing car stats...

99 civic EX (D16Y8)

Engine from 00 (80k miles)

280k on body...

Manual transmission.

I did smell my coolant and it smells like gas/oil...but it could just be due to the hot plastic...

I have good power and no signs of bad HG...engine is less the 100k (and I assume they put a new HG on with new engine...

I would like to look for other fixes before condemning HG...

This^ tests for a blown head gasket. It's a pretty sensitive test.

There's no single test that detects all blown head gaskets. You need to do them all.

do the comp/leakdown can't really move forward until you rule out possibility's.

as for the vacuum gauge yes I'd recommend you get one and see here to better understand it http://www.autospeed.com/cms/A_2393/article.html

definitive way to test i'm not 100% sure but you can test the coolant system pressure which would tell you a bit imo. also are you loosing coolant tho it may be slow depletion ?
