'93 Civic Ferio EG9 Exhaust rattle
Hi,
I've searched my *** off and I've found some stuff about this, but nothing that works.
My friend has a Honda Civic EG9 Ferio, a 4 door EG with B16A2.
The exhaust makes a weird rattling noise, and we really can't find what it is.
All heat shields are gone, that's always the first thing we do.
He's running the original exhaust manifold, then an original cat (which we emptied to be sure), and then an Apex'i WS2 catback.
First we tought that it would be the donut gasket between the header and cat, so we bought a brand new one, together with 2 new bolts, 2 new nuts and 2 new springs (hell that was expensive). still not fixed.
Then we were thinking that it would be the header or the cat, so we installed an aftermarket header and a testpipe, still not fixed.
Then we tought it was the catback, we bought a brand new spoon n1 replica, installed it and it didnt work.. still rattle..
now we put the original header and emptied cat back and the apexi exhaust back.
When I hit on the exhaust on the catback it doesnt make any weird noise, only when I hit the manifold very hard, it seems to come from the flange where the header and the cat connect, so I've tried hitting the manifold on it's own when only connected to the engine and disconnected from the cat, it rattles even harder. so it should be in the exhaust manifold.. but it's also with the aftermarket header..
also the bracket where you bolt your header on the rear of the engine is solidly connected.
All the exhaust hangers have been changed with stiffer ones aswell now
NOTHING seems to help..
anyone know what this could be ?? We're breaking our heads over this for over 2 months now.. and it just happened.. without any reason..
thanks !
and if you can find a solution to this, YOU are our hero !!
