OVERHEATING, I am totally stumped. any ideas?
My car is overheating and I have no idea why.
I have a BRAND NEW FLUIDYNE radiator with two fans.
BOTH FANS WORK.
I have a brand new thermostat.
And fluid levels are ALL FULL.
There is NO coolant in my OIL.
I will be driving around and for no reason it will start warming up. Then go back down. Totaly random and sparatic.
My motor is a 2.0L gsr block with golden eagle sleeves.

-Check to see that your fan fuse isnt blown.
-Check to see if you wired your fans backwards, if so fix it.
-Bleed your coolant of air at the thermostat
Run your car without radiator cap on, allow fans to come on twice. Install radiator cap, then bleed out air at the thermostat housing
-Make sure your ect sensor hasnt gone bad.

I found a good way to make sure you get the air out of the system is to jack the front of the car up as high as you can to make the radiator fill the highest point in the system by far and let the fans cycle a few times before installing the cap
hope its not BHG (blown headgasket) my friends did the same thing no oil in coolant or coolant in oil no white smoke in exhaust... sure enogh BHG

ive never heard of golden eagle sleeves leaking, tsuperbike, how are you certain it was the bottom of the sleeve leaking on these sleeves youve seen leak and not the head gasket not sealing properly??. what are your headstud/bolts torqued to? did you use any copper spray on the headgasket?
Same overheating problems here. We have determined that air is getting into the system somehow. We were blowing headgaskets before on the old sleeved block, and didn't know what was causing it. We had benson resleeve it and send it back. I don't think we are blowing head gaskets, but air is getting in SOMEHOW. I am wondering if maybe the hondata IM gasket is not sealing well and letting air into the coolant passage. We have - new waterpump, (which we suspected so we took a good one off another car as well), new radiator, new hoses, new heater core, (then we completely bypassed it), and still having problems. I am starting to wonder if its just s known sleeving problem. If it is, it freakin sucks. If not, I don't know what to do. We just did 2 other turbo GSR motors and neither have a problem even remotely similar to this one. Hell, they don't have a problem at all. Then again, they are all on stock blocks with better internals. Any other ideas?
Run the car with no thermostat for a while just to make sure its not bad. I would not right this thing off and say it is bad sleeves or head gasket yet. Also you say it heats up then cools down. Does it start to cool down when the fans come on? If so then the temp sensor for the fans may be bad(coming on too a high temp)

I had a similar problem on my h22...it was fine during the break-in but after boosting on it for a bit I stretched the bolts and was lifting the head under boost. There wasn't any mixing going on as it was only leaking under boost. The way I caught it was that after boosting _hard_ on it I came home to find that I filled the overflow and blew the cap off! I was SOL until ARP finally released their studs...didn't have a problem after that with a cometic gasket and the studs torqued to 80ft/lbs.

are you sure the engine is getting that hot???? my stock motor would read really hot randomly and ended up being my temp sending unit was bad....... an also check the sending unit in the block for the fans!
good luck man!

How much boost? ARP studs, what torque and what headgasket are you using? Sounds me like the head could be lifting.

Yes I am sure the engine is getting hot. I can hear/see the water boiling when I shut off the car.
I have ARP head studs. It is an aftermarket headgasket because my motor is 2.0L.
My fans do turn on.
My car is tuned, so I think the timing is fine.
When I datalog, I am hitting numbers above 210+++.
It guess it could be possible the head is lifting??? Or my headgasket is blown?
