d series swap question

on ebay looking for motors
but cant decide if i want jdm d15b or d16y8 or z6
wikipedia says jdm d15b vtec 130hp
same as jdm d15 non vtec
ZC sohc vtec 128hp
Y8 127hp
Z6 125hp
SEEMS TO GOOD TO BE TRUE
that i can have more hp and use less gas

plans include Y8 intake and header

I would trust eBay... to a very fine limit. I would pick the motor up yourself if you could and not trust freight at "compression tests."

With that said. I'm a big Z6 fanboy myself for the D series swaps. Despite the wiki numbers. But a JDM D15B would be good too.

I was in the same boat not too long ago. Found a B16A with a LSD trans and some other goodies for a steal. So that's where I went.

DOHC ZC, I got one and very satisfied with it performance wise.
Converted it to OBD1 and man its awesome with launch control and everything else.

I went d15b VTEC, if your planning on building it at all beyond basic bolt ons its hard to find parts like pistons and rods, way easier to find for the z6 or y8

If you really want better gas mileage and performance, you could always get a d15z7...
