how often do pistons crack when seperated from rods?
Ah well, I have to seperate some rods from the pistons, and one shop said they do not guarantee pistons from cracking.
So i would like to know how often this happens? They said they have never cracked one before but since they dont guarantee anything, thats still an iffy feeling.
So anybody care to give me their expeirences, and should i be shietting in my pants or would everythign go a okay, and honda pistons are stronger then I think???

I've never heard of anything that crazy. It's metal, not brittle plastic, why would it break? Does this place know what they are doin?
if the pins are taken out carefully and the rods prised from the piston bottom, there is absolutely no reason in the world why they should crack, its just a case of separeting two different mechanical parts
hmmm well my shop wont guarantee that they wont crack the damn pistons... ***.. i think i'll just give the pistons and rods away together...
oh wells...
Thanks anyways guys

Is this a machine shop you're getting to do this? From what I understand, some parts have to be either heated up or cooled down (either the pistons and rods, or the pins, I can't remember which) so that the pin is able to fit through the pistons and rods. It's something that you would need a machine shop to do.
