i'm wondering if open exhaust on a turboed motor will up the boost any. and are there any benefits or any negitives to doing this. thanks

 

open exhaust means quicker spool time and very lOud!!!

 

For about a day, I ran my turbo downpipleless. Other than having to clean out the carbon from under the hood, it wasn't that bad. Oh yeah... the smell kinda sucked... But as for noise, it wasn't any louder than the typical fartcan unless you stomped on it and the wastegate opened up. Once it did, goddamn, was it loud!

It drove like a $30,000 sports car and sounded like a $500 winter beater. Bleh.

 

i was planning on running a down pipe just no exhaust after that. so there would be no change in boost settings?

 

nope but it will be alot faster then having an exhaust. trust thats the best way to go. sound bad *** as well. you get to hear the turbo spool!
