how can you tell if you have bent valves? thanks

What makes you htink they're bent? When mine were bent, I took them to a machine shop and had them measure them... but I obviously had them out of the car and I'm guessing you don't.

 

if the valves r bent u can hear them like a rattle sound

 

the car will idle like crap, lost of hp, you will hear the valves rattle/loud tapping

Your car would idle like crazy. Up and down, dying on you, and loss of noticeable performance.

Get a compression test done. If any of your valves are even slightly bent, the compression ratio will come out abnormal. If they come out perfectly, then it's not Bent Valves. It's probly another problem...

if you have bent valve(s), you'll notice a slight ticking sound during idle and your compression will be low(depending on how bad the valves are bent).

 

yeah do a compression test.

 

depends on how bad you bend them. sometimes its barely noticable. sometimes the car wont even turn over. (my case). I not only bent valves, i broke some.
