My civic is all of a sudden cutting out after it starts up for about 1 second. It starts then cuts off all of a sudden maybe 1 or 1/2 a second later after start up.
I'm thinking coil because when my ignitor went bad, I couldn't start at all, it would just turn and turn and turn. It lets me start it on the first start, but then it cuts out when it does. When I keep trying, eventually it starts and keeps running. Seems like it happens when cold. I know my battery and wires are OK because I still get power to power my starter and everything else.
Help!

When it dies after start up, do you get any panel lights like battery and oil? If not, I'd suspect the ignition switch.
fuel pump not turning on?

I think the fuel pump is fine because it primes when in the on position and also my fuel pressure is up when this happens. It's @ about 40 psi when this happens. Seems like now, when I get it to run it runs fine no problems and it doesn't shut off on me. Seems like the problem is when it's cold. What else should I check?

I also added an external fuel pressure regulator if that matters. It's been on for about 3 months with no probs though, but it's used.

There is a Fast Idle Valve that is supposed to allow extra air into the intake for cold starts. Maybe yours isn't working? Normally, cold idle should be around 1700rpm.

I think if the fast idle doesn't work the RPMs will be low or irradic. I don't think it will shut your car off after startup.
