i-Vtec to "Real" Vtec? What does this require?
So i bought a base model 2002 Honda Integra with a K20A3, i-Vtec. It's a fun car that is a lot of fun to drive. What i'm looking into doing is getting "real" Vtec out of it without doing a engine swap. Is it possible to swap the head, Do I have the right idea here or am I way out in left field? I'm good with cars but not too knowledgable with the Honda motors yet.
So my first question is this even possible?
My second question is what is required to do something like this if this is possible?

No problem!
I-Vtec and "real" Vtec are nearly the same.
except I-vtec is even better, because it controls all outputs of cam timing, not just switched modes.
what makes you think I-Vtec is Fake Vtec?
you're not in Left field, you're not in right field, you're not even on this planet anymore...
know where I found that information?
The very first link on google.
Asshat!

all your posts to date. please dont try to sound intelligent because it's obvious you're not.
I wasn't trying to sound intelligent. I pretty much copied something I found onlline verbatim
well then, maybe you should copy the part about how the k20a3 only has 2 lobe vtec on the intake cam that's primary focus is fuel economy and not the traditional 3 lobe vtec on both cams.

To move on with things:
I realize that i-Vtec is not "Fake" Vtec, But it is not "True" Vtec as most know it. There is a reason I put these terms in quotes. i-Vtec combines traditional Vtec with VTC (Variable Timing Control). I personally enjoy the "Kick" that "traditional" Vtec offers. I knew going into the purchase of the car that i-Vtec was not what I was looking for. Which brings us to this thread.
think of what you have as an updated version of vtec-e found on the older d series. i personally wouldnt do the head swap because the cost to power ratio is ridiculous.
OP, your engine does have i-vtec. like said previously, it doesnt "kick" like a b-series vtec would only because its the a3. the k20a2 or k20z1/3 have i-vtec and definitely kick. unless you spend big money, your k20a3 won't get it.
my advice: save your money for a k20a2 (rsx-s) or a k24 . use your car as a daily while you save up because it has the same torque (give or take a few ft/lbs) as your better k series engines. but to throw money (atleast to get 50+ hp) at a k20a3 is a waste because unless you upgrade many parts to it, it wont be much faster than one of those motors.
